Stabilisation vs Lift Systems

Choosing between a Redfoot Caravan Stabilisation System and a full Redfoot Hydraulic or Heavy-Duty Levelling/Lift System boils down to a single question: Are you trying to stop your van from rocking, or do you need to physically lift it off the ground to level it?

Both systems replace the pain of manual cranking, but they serve completely different structural purposes.

1. Redfoot Caravan Stabilisation System

This system features four independently controlled electric motorized legs designed to replace your traditional manual corner steadies.

How it works: You park your van, use standard ramps or blocks to get the caravan roughly level, and then press a button on a remote control to drop the legs down until they firmly brace the chassis against the ground.

Weight & Capacity: It’s a relatively lightweight system (~57kg) with a general supporting capacity up to 2,000kg. It provides roughly 100mm of minor adjustment lift.

2. Redfoot Hydraulic or AutoLift Levelling Systems

These are heavy-duty, one-touch automatic systems utilizing robust hydraulic or massive electric jacks permanently bolted directly to the main chassis rails.

How it works: You pull up to a terribly uneven campsite, push a single button, and the system automatically calculates the slope and physically lifts the entire caravan off its suspension to level it in less than 90 seconds—no chocks or ramps required.

 Weight & Capacity: These are incredibly strong setups capable of lifting large, heavy dual-axle caravans or motorhomes (often rated up to 6,000kg total lift).

Choose the Lift/Levelling System if:

Direct Comparison

A Quick Warning on Ground Clearance: Before committing to the Stabiliser system, measure your under-chassis-to-ground clearance. Redfoot notes that if your clearance is above 450mm (common on some high-riding off-road setups), the stabilizer legs may not have enough extension reach to work properly without stacking blocks underneath them.
